Sam & Brittany Gill: New Hope School Pakistan Reopens

Updates on School's Security

Praise God!

By the grace of God, our New Hope School has reopened.  No doubt, it would not have happened without your fervent prayers and generous support.  Thank you very much for standing with us in this great cause.  Indeed, our school staff and children are also very happy for your support and have a piece of mind that there are brothers and sisters who are always ready to help them in their difficult time. What a great encouragement you are!

What we asked for:
  • Security Guards’ Salaries: 300/month
  • Building a wall, for privacy, from the neighbors: $400
  • Security Cameras: $300
  • UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) to keep the camera working for 24 hours: $300
  • Total: $1,300
Per month Security cost
  •  Two Security Guards’ Salaries per month: $300
How much raised and what is needed
  •  Right now we have raised $2,000, which is enough to reopen our school and to pay security guards for two months, Feb and March.
  •  We want someone to be committed for, at least, 6 more months, from April to October 2015, to pay the security guards’ salaries, which is $2,100.

Sam & Brittany Gill: Bad News - Reopening School, after the Extended Winter Break, A Big Challenge.

Hello Dear Supporters,

As many of you may know that after the inhumane incident of killing 132 innocent school kids by the Taliban, schools were kept closed for an extended period of time in Pakistan. This came after the Government conducted a threat assessment from the Taliban.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/12/16/world/asia/pakistan-peshawar-school-attack/

The Pakistani Government, after keen consideration, decided to announce new requirements for the reopening of schools on Jan. 12, 2015.  These requirements focus mostly on high security measures such as raising boundary walls, topping them with concertina razor wire, hiring security guards and installing closed-circuit camera systems.  Until we install these measures, we cannot reopen our school.

http://www.dawn.com/news/1155110

Recently our New Hope School staff attended a meeting at the police station to learn about the new security requirements.  It was frustrating to hear that the security rules were made as one-size-fits-all.  The police officer also mentioned in his briefing that there will be no financial help provided by the Government.  So, if we want to reopen our school, we have to meet the security requirements.

In our meeting last night with our New Hope School staff, I told them that I would bring up this subject to our Christian brothers and sisters to help us out in this situation.  In order to complete all security measures and hire two security guards, it definitely will cost us a bit more than we planned.  But we do not have any other option to reopen our school.  If we will not open our school it will certainly negatively impact our students' education, lives and also the lives of their parents.  These students are our future leaders.  We cannot sacrifice their future on the altar of inconvenience.  Would you please financially help us get over this hump?

Here is what we have to do immediately:

One Time Need:

Hiring tow military retired guards
Guard uniforms
Military guns for two guards  recommend by the Government
A guard tower (made of sand bags, appropriate for our small school)
Boundary walls, topping them with concertina razor wire

Monthly needs:
Salaries for the two guards/months

Good News: A Big Thanks

New Hope Christian Ministries of Pakistan's team would like to express their gratitude for your generous kindness in the form of financial support.  Our words seem insufficient to tell you all "Thank You."  Back in June of 2014, you generously met the need when we sent you a request for our housing and transportation for our upcoming move to Pakistan.  First, when we were writing this support letter, we were reluctant to ask for help.  But God convinced us not to be shy.  Therefore, we prayerfully sent our support letter to all of you, so that you may share in propelling us in the work of the Kingdom of God, as we all obey His command of Matthew 28:19, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,.."

The turnout was miraculous, in the form of your response, to participate in the extension of Jesus' mission in Pakistan.  We would not be able to do it without the help of God through you!  Thank you!  By the Grace of God, we achieved our goal in the end of December, 2014.  The next step is our moving to Pakistan, very soon.  After moving there, our major focus will be training leaders and providing a good education to children.  Right now, we are running a school, in a small rental building, where 80 children are receiving godly training.  Our sewing center is operating in the same building.  If you all keep supporting us the way that you have been doing, there is no doubt that we will be able to build our own school building.  This building will be used for our School, Bible College, Adult Education Classes, Sewing Center and English Language Center.  Definitely, we will provide you with the details of this proposed building and budget, very soon.  We wish you all a blessed new year 2015.  May God shower His blessings upon you and rejuvenate you physically and spiritually, and may you lack nothing in your lives.

Blessings,

Sam Gill

Sadiq Gill: Christian Couple Burned Alive in Pakistan

Christian Young Couple Beaten and Burned Alive

A Message from Sam Gill, Founder and Director, NHCMP:

The Plight of Christianity in Pakistan

Matthew 5:11-12

“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.  Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

Once again, another brutal event happened, in Pakistan, nearly 37 miles, or 60 kilometers, from Southwest Lahore, the capital of Punjab (a province, in Pakistan).  This is the story of a young Christian couple, who were both workers in the Brick Kiln Factory, as slaves, under a Landlord.  They had been working there, for a decade.  According to Sarfraz (his cousin), Shahzad and Shama (5 months pregnant), were both thinking about quitting their work for their Landlord, because he was not paying them, enough.  When their Landlord owner, Yousuf Gujjar, found out about this, he increased the demands for repayment on their loan to $5,000 (they often do this to keep families in their cycles, working for generations... This is usual in Brick Kiln Factories).

Making Bricks is a back-breaking job.  In order to earn $7, Brick Kiln Workers often have to make 1,000 bricks.  Keeping this wage in mind, it seems impossible for a poor laborer to pay someone $5,000, at once, and get rid of this job.  When the Landlord figured out that he could not stop them, legally, he decided to plot a conspiracy against their lives.

He picked some men in his posse, and a local Muslim Cleric, to take revenge: They fabricated a false Blasphemy case against this couple.  The Blasphemy Law is often used to settle personal vendettas.  They falsely accused this couple of burning pages of the Qur'an.  A mob came over, beat this couple, until they were unconscious, dragged them to the Kiln Factory, and burned them, alive.

Even though the local Police took notice of this situation, they sent four Policemen to settle this matter.  But Yousuf Gujjar and his posse, along with the mob of 500 did not pay any attention to these men, and burned the couple, alive.  Take note that this woman was pregnant.

According to authentic resources, it has been proved that this accusation was fabricated:  There was no truth in it, whatsoever.

We ask all of you believers to pray for the families of this deceased couple, so God will give them comfort and a heart of forgiveness.  We ask that God will provide them justice

P.S. Our NHCMP Staff just left to visit the families of this deceased couple.  We will keep you posted.

Sam & Brittney Gill: A BIG Move Planned - New Hope Christian Ministries of Pakistan

Dear Fellows in Christ,

Thank you for your generous support of New Hope Christian Ministries of Pakistan.  Our hearts ache for the Pakistani believers and Muslim neighbors.  Satan is using Muslim extremists to kill innocent people, by shooting them or by blowing them up through suicide bombings.

With urgency, we are working to rescue as many Muslim brothers and sisters as possible, so they can come to know the redemption and love that is only found in Christ, our Lord.  As many of you know, Pakistan is an Islamic Country.  The total population of Pakistan is 180 million.  Christians make up only 3% of the population, which means that there are 3 million Christians and 177 million Muslims.

Pakistan is hard to reach with the gospel, due to Muslim extremists' resistance to Christianity and the Pakistani Government's formal endorsement of Islam.  The biggest obstacle is the Blasphemy Law, which is used as a license to kill Christians.  Hundreds of Christian people have become victims of this vicious law, by being falsely accused and killed for defending their faith.

While studying at Cincinnati Christian University, we have traveled back and forth, to supervise the ministries, in Pakistan.  The New Hope Staff has been loyal and committed to expand the mission work in Pakistan.  We have now both graduated and are ready to move to Pakistan, long term, along with our new daughter, Amelia.  We have some pressing needs if we are to reach this goal.

Here are our needs:

A. Transportation:  Traveling by taxi or public transportation is not safe.  In order to avoid suicide bombing and terrorism activities, it would be wise to have our own vehicle.  Personal transportation will be very important to maintain a low profile.  Not everyone in Pakistan is associated with the Taliban/Al-Queda, but it is hard to know who is and who isn't.  Public Transportation can be easily targeted by extremists.
In order to purchase a reliable car, we need $20,000.  The price of cars, in Pakistan, is higher than the USA.  For instance, a new Camry in the USA, costs around $20,000, which is roughly 1,600,000-1,700,000 Rupees (Pakistani Currency).  A new Camry, in Pakistan, costs $60,000 which is 58,080,000 rupees.  A serviceable used one, about $20,000.

B. Housing: To buy a modest home, in Pakistan will cost $50,000.  If we have our own house, it will save a lot of mission money, in the future.  A rental home is quite expensive: $600-700.00 a month, plus utilities.  A permanent home would save money, enhance our effectiveness and demonstrate the permanence of our work.

We believe these are two essential needs and they cannot be accomplished without help from other Christians like you.  The total need is $70,000.  Since our goal is to move to Pakistan by the end of this year, this means that we need these funds, soon.  Therefore, we are asking that you consider these needs, prayerfully.  Many will have to give generously, and soon.  If 1,500 people would give $50.00, each, the goal can be reached.  Some of you can give much more.

Christians know that when we open our hands to God, He opens His hands towards us, but we must not forget that God has much bigger hands than we do!

We would be grateful if you could bring up this need in your churches, Bible classes, Small Groups, and to your family and friends.  We will do this work if you will help sustain us as we go.  As William Carey (The Father of Modern Missions) said,"I will go down into the pit if you will hold the ropes."

Yours for reaching out to the lost of Pakistan,

Samuel Gill
Founder and Director

P.S.  We ask that you prayerfully consider having a significant part of this exciting mission work in Pakistan, which is one of the world’s most needy mission areas.  Will you help us?  If 1,500 people contribute $50, the target can be achieved.

Sam & Brittany Gill: Stand Up For Truth; It's Is Not Too Late!

New Year Resolution Challenge:

By Sam Gill

Stand up for truth; It is not too late: (New Year's Resolution)

"When I say to the wicked, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand.  Yet if you have warned the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered yourself" (Eze. 3:18-19).

So, according to this passage, being shepherds and Christians, we are obligated to help humans to be aware of the seriousness of immoral behavior and sin.  I do know that it is hard with someone living in a society, which is saturated with all kinds of social syndromes: relativism, political correctness, abortion, drugs, divorces, premarital sex, homosexuality, Civil unions, etc., to tell the truth.  But, we do not have a choice the other way around.  We have to declare the truth for our deliverance and for the victims of sin to save their lives.  In order to do that, I know that we just need to be a little bit gutsy.  No doubt, there will be a tumult or riot, which is natural, because "The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it" (John 1:5).

Phil Robertson, a main Character of Duck Dynasty, passed a statement in his interview to GQ that homosexuality is a sin and in the same category as bestiality and promiscuity: He said, "Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there.  Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men."  "But homosexuals aren't alone," Robertson said.  "Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers -- they won't inherit the kingdom of God.  Don't deceive yourself.  It's not right."  I admired Phil's boldness for truth and compassion for the sinners.  However, the LGBT made a big deal of it.  They forced the A&E TV Channel to ban him.

If Robertson's statements, based on Scriptures, is offensive to the LGBT, then, how much more would this comment, mentioned below, made by the NAACP and Human Rights Campaign, be offensive to Christians? (See below article, for website).  "And his [Robertson] offensive claims about gay people fly in the face of science [not in the face of the Bible].  In fact, it's important to note that every single leading medical organization in the country has said that [not the Bible] there is absolutely nothing wrong with being LGBT -- it's not a choice [it is a choice], and to suggest otherwise is dangerous."  So by this statement, they are endorsing the LGBT behavior and proving that Science is more credible the Bible.  So in a nutshell, anything the LGBT says is "acceptable" and "admirable," while what the Bible says is offensive and insulting?!  What a double standard!  If the LGBT considered that Robertson has offended a few LGBT people, by telling the truth, then they need to know that, by their statements, they are offending billions of Christians and non-Christians all over the world by their perverted behavior.  Therefore, instead of asking Robertson to apologize to the LGBT, it should be the other way around.  It is interesting that billions of people agreed with Robertson, more than with the LGBT.  As a matter of fact, the LGBT not only have discriminated Robertson, but they have also offended the True and Most High God, by living their immoral lifestyles.  The LGBT's political correctness and homosexual agenda is trying to triumph science, which is always changing.  They like to follow man-made rules over the Creator's.

It is interesting that homosexuals acknowledge the Moral Law when it comes to the immorality of bigotry, but they readily overlook it, when comes to their own homosexual behavior.  Since they do not have any reason or logic to justify their double-standard, they divert attention through name-calling.  Therefore, they are trying to say that if Christians want to avoid name-calling, then they should not only tolerate them, but endorse their perverted behavior.  Dr. Frank Turek said (in his article "Protecting America’s Immune System: A Reasonable Argument Against Homosexual Marriage," (Website: www.frankturek.com)), "If we adopt their narcissistic demands—as J.D. Unwin documented by his study of 86 civilizations -- it will be just a few generations before our nation is destroyed from within.  It’s been documented to cause disease and to shorten life spans dramatically (one study showed the median age of death in the early 40's for gay men and women without AIDS 26)."

In addition to that, according to Dr. Rick Fitzgibbons, in an interview with Zenit (source listed below article), there is a “strong link between homosexual sex and suicide, as well as a relationship between homosexuality and emotional and mental problems.”  He also discloses very fatal consequences of homosexuality in his interview to Zenit.  He said that youth which are involved in homosexual practice, suffer from major depression four times to more than their peers, are almost three times likely to have generalized anxiety disorder, are nearly four times more likely to experience conduct disorder, five times more likely to have nicotine dependence, six times more likely to have multiple disorders, and over six times more likely to have attempted suicide.

After having read the above mentioned facts, there is only one choice for Christians: Tell the truth with sincere love.  Be truthful with God, yourself and your loved ones.  Please stand up for the truth.  You might get some flack, because you are flying against the societal norms, subjectivism, relativism and political correctness, which all are trying to override the absolute truth, by perverting it.  I have heard the sentiment: "Tell the truth in the way that nobody will be offended or convicted."  Does not it seem so unnatural?  It's like soaking something in the water, and expecting it to remain dry, throwing something in the fire and expecting it not to burn, or putting oil on the fire and expecting it not make a big flame.  Therefore, be ready for a reaction of rejection or acceptance, because when you strike the Darkness of Deception with the Light of Truth, sparks will fly!  Dr. Frank Turek stated in his article, "Protecting America’s Immune System: A Reasonable Argument against Homosexual Marriage:" "If we allow our emotional affection for our gay friends and relatives to interfere with sound reasoning, we risk making the same mistake that my friend’s parents made—endorsing behavior that will hurt our loved ones. But our mistake will not hurt one person just once—it will hurt future generations, repeatedly."

Being an Asian-Christian, I used to believe that America and Europe were great promoters of Freedom of speech, as Noam Chomsky (Professor Emeritus of MIT, author, linguist, philosopher, cognitive scientist, logician, political commentator and activist) said, “In many respects, the United States is a great country.  Freedom of speech is protected more than in any other country.  It is also a very free society.  In America, the professor talks to the mechanic.  They are in the same category.”  Now, I realized that it is not completely true.  "It is a messed up situation when Miley Cyrus gets a laugh, and Phil Robertson gets suspended"  Bobby Jindal, Louisiana Governor, said.  Here in the USA, the subjectivists have more freedom over objectivists, the Homosexuals have more freedom over Heterosexuals, and liberals and seculars have more freedom over Christians. What a tragedy!

Challenge:

How long can we Christians stay numb and keep quiet, letting the evil prevail, in our churches and societies?  Someone said very well, “Sometimes a people lose their right to remain silent when pressured to remain silent.”  George Washington said, "If freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.”  Here is the challenge: If we really love our children and grandchildren, then we have to stand up for our rights and make this world better for our upcoming generation.  Stand with those who stand for the truth without compromising.  We still have time to reverse our society from evil to good.  Just need to be gutsy.  When we step forward for good, God will stand on our side.  If God is with us, who can stand against us (Romans 8:31)?  Josiah was a great King of Israel, but he came when the Israelites had already gone too far in their sins, and his leadership did not change destination.
