Missions Update - Our First Men's Retreat

We had our first men’s retreat recently. Twenty-one men spent time together and fellowshipped, fished and learned about God’s Word. Jaime is a young man who is part of our church, faithful in attending Sunday service, part of a house group and also part of the literacy class. Since he made the decision to give His life to the Lord and was baptized, he has become more involved with coming alongside of other disciples to evangelize! John Hendee, the founder of Project New Hope, came to Ecuador to spend time with us and taught about “Dragon Slayers,” how we can kill our sins. It was really special to worship our Lord together. We also got to know each other more as we shared our experiences. It was a pleasant surprise when we arrived at church to find our wives there to greet us. Several men expressed how glad they were that they went on this retreat. We pray that it will change their lives and they will be transformed to become the men Jesus wants them to be.

Sam and Brittany Gill - Help NHCMP Start a Bible College

Bible College Proposal

Can You Help NHCMP to Start a Bible College?

Objective: New Hope Christian Ministries of Pakistan feels the necessity to start a Bible College, in Pakistan.  We felt this, at the starting point of NHCMP, and now, we feel that there is a great need of trained ministers and leaders who can strengthen the Church in true doctrine and be able to defend their faith against Islam.  We need your help to raise $600,000 to make this project happen.

By the Grace of God, we are doing well, and the ministry is doing well, in Pakistan, thanks to your prayers, love, and financial support.

Ever since NHCMP officially started, in 2007, we have planted two Churches, a School for Christian and Muslim kids, a Sewing Center for Women, Bible Certificate courses and Adult Education programs, to promote literacy.  Having done all of these things, we perceive that there is a great need of leadership training, especially while Christians are facing terrorist attacks and vicious, discriminatory Islamic laws.  Pakistan is 97% Islamic.  Regardless of this fact, we feel a hunger for the Word of God.  Some Muslims are very frustrated and are looking for hope.  Despite the fact that there are 97% Muslims, there are around 3% Christians.  It may seem small, but considering that Pakistan is around 196 million, in population, that would make around 5,880,000 Christians.  It is significant, and we feel that Christians are making a difference.

Why This Is So Important: In May of 2014, I received a Master of Divinity, and Brittany received a Master of Arts in Religion.  We received these Degrees from Cincinnati Christian University.  Previous to that, from Boise Bible College, we received Bachelor of Arts Degrees, with two years of Greek (experience).  I also studied Hebrew, at Cincinnati Christian University.

We see this Bible College Education Background as a great tool for planning this new Bible College, and plan to use our experience, education and expertise towards this project.  We can only achieve this when we have a regular Bible College, so we can teach people, systematically.

Proposed Architectural Layout of The Bible College:

Will you dream with us, on this project?  According to the Great Commission, in Matthew 28:18-20, we must go into all the nations to teach people the Word of God and the truth about Jesus Christ.

Here are some pictures of the diagram of how we want our building.
The Appearance of the Building
The Front and Rear Elevation Model
The Ground Floor Plan
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd Floor Plans
Budget:
Our need for this project is $600,000.  This covers the land and building expenses.  In addition, we envision this facility to be a multi-purpose center, including our School, Sewing Center, and Adult Education Classes.  The amount may seem big, but considering American budgets, this is very small.  When we were in America, we often heard about million-dollar budgets made by Churches.  We are only asking less than that.

or, if 1,200 people donate $500,
or, if 2,000 people donate $300,

Sam and Brittany Gill - New Hope Christian Ministries of Pakistan (ministry update)

Breaking News: May 24, 2015
Sande Incident: Lahore, Pakistan
---
Christian Man Accused of Blasphemy.  Violence Attacks from Shi'ites and Christians flee from their homes.

This was an unfortunate incident that happened shortly after the Youhunabad incident (in Lahore).  To read about this in our previous newsletter, click HERE.

This Sande incident was also not far away from Youhunabad.  A Christian man, who was considered mentally impaired, and a drug addict was accused of burning newspaper pages that had Qur'anic verses on it, and was accused of blasphemy.  This time, the attack was from the Shi'ites, not from the Sunnis (who are the majority Muslim group, here).  (Sunni and Shi'ite are the two main majority groups of Muslims, in the Muslim world).

This just comes to show that Muslims are taught to not have tolerance for Christians, no matter what sect they come from.  Not everybody is this way, but this is what they are taught, in the Madrasas (Islamic Schools).  We must pray for these people.

When the violence became to its extreme, they were going to attack a church, nearby (see the photo, down below).  However, policemen and armed guards came over and prevented it from happening.  The Christians, in this area fled and so far, have not returned back to their homes (as much as we know).  A friend of ours came and gave us some "insider" photos.

What is sad about this incident is that the Pakistani media didn't try to cover this, very much.  It shows their feelings of indifference about this event.

Christians are not safe from terrorist attacks and they are not safe, either, from Extremist Muslims, who are the true followers of Islam.

The Church that was almost attacked, but thanks to the Policemen and Armed Guards, the attack was prevented.

Policemen were walking with Bamboo Sticks and guns.

Houses that were attacked.

Houses with doors that were locked.  This indicated the Christians who left and have not come back yet, as far as we know.

Sam & Brittany Gill: Twin Suicide Bombs - New Hope Christian Ministries of Pakistan

Hello, everyone!  We are here, getting adjusted, slowly and surely.  While we were on the plane, over here, we heard some distressing news about two suicide bombs that happened near two Churches, near to where we are residing.  However, because of your love and prayers, and the Grace of God, we are doing fine.  The Churches are doing fine, as well as the School and our Sewing Center.  Our Churches have had normal Sundays, these past three weeks.  Please pray for the security, safety and protection for the Pakistani Christian People.  We are wanting to raise the level of security for our Churches.  Hopefully, by the Grace of God, we can achieve this.  Regarding the Twin Bombings, more details on this incident are mentioned here in our newsletter: http://themissionsnetwork.com/index.php/news-prayer-letters-from-ministries-missionaries/408-asia/new-hope-christian-ministries-of-pakistan-sam-brittany-gill/6317-twin-suicide-bombs-april-6-2015-new-hope-christian-ministries-of-pakistan

Sam & Brittany Gill: New Hope School Pakistan Reopens

Updates on School's Security

Praise God!

By the grace of God, our New Hope School has reopened.  No doubt, it would not have happened without your fervent prayers and generous support.  Thank you very much for standing with us in this great cause.  Indeed, our school staff and children are also very happy for your support and have a piece of mind that there are brothers and sisters who are always ready to help them in their difficult time. What a great encouragement you are!

What we asked for:
  • Security Guards’ Salaries: 300/month
  • Building a wall, for privacy, from the neighbors: $400
  • Security Cameras: $300
  • UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) to keep the camera working for 24 hours: $300
  • Total: $1,300
Per month Security cost
  •  Two Security Guards’ Salaries per month: $300
How much raised and what is needed
  •  Right now we have raised $2,000, which is enough to reopen our school and to pay security guards for two months, Feb and March.
  •  We want someone to be committed for, at least, 6 more months, from April to October 2015, to pay the security guards’ salaries, which is $2,100.

Sam & Brittany Gill: Bad News - Reopening School, after the Extended Winter Break, A Big Challenge.

Hello Dear Supporters,

As many of you may know that after the inhumane incident of killing 132 innocent school kids by the Taliban, schools were kept closed for an extended period of time in Pakistan. This came after the Government conducted a threat assessment from the Taliban.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/12/16/world/asia/pakistan-peshawar-school-attack/

The Pakistani Government, after keen consideration, decided to announce new requirements for the reopening of schools on Jan. 12, 2015.  These requirements focus mostly on high security measures such as raising boundary walls, topping them with concertina razor wire, hiring security guards and installing closed-circuit camera systems.  Until we install these measures, we cannot reopen our school.

http://www.dawn.com/news/1155110

Recently our New Hope School staff attended a meeting at the police station to learn about the new security requirements.  It was frustrating to hear that the security rules were made as one-size-fits-all.  The police officer also mentioned in his briefing that there will be no financial help provided by the Government.  So, if we want to reopen our school, we have to meet the security requirements.

In our meeting last night with our New Hope School staff, I told them that I would bring up this subject to our Christian brothers and sisters to help us out in this situation.  In order to complete all security measures and hire two security guards, it definitely will cost us a bit more than we planned.  But we do not have any other option to reopen our school.  If we will not open our school it will certainly negatively impact our students' education, lives and also the lives of their parents.  These students are our future leaders.  We cannot sacrifice their future on the altar of inconvenience.  Would you please financially help us get over this hump?

Here is what we have to do immediately:

One Time Need:

Hiring tow military retired guards
Guard uniforms
Military guns for two guards  recommend by the Government
A guard tower (made of sand bags, appropriate for our small school)
Boundary walls, topping them with concertina razor wire

Monthly needs:
Salaries for the two guards/months

Good News: A Big Thanks

New Hope Christian Ministries of Pakistan's team would like to express their gratitude for your generous kindness in the form of financial support.  Our words seem insufficient to tell you all "Thank You."  Back in June of 2014, you generously met the need when we sent you a request for our housing and transportation for our upcoming move to Pakistan.  First, when we were writing this support letter, we were reluctant to ask for help.  But God convinced us not to be shy.  Therefore, we prayerfully sent our support letter to all of you, so that you may share in propelling us in the work of the Kingdom of God, as we all obey His command of Matthew 28:19, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,.."

The turnout was miraculous, in the form of your response, to participate in the extension of Jesus' mission in Pakistan.  We would not be able to do it without the help of God through you!  Thank you!  By the Grace of God, we achieved our goal in the end of December, 2014.  The next step is our moving to Pakistan, very soon.  After moving there, our major focus will be training leaders and providing a good education to children.  Right now, we are running a school, in a small rental building, where 80 children are receiving godly training.  Our sewing center is operating in the same building.  If you all keep supporting us the way that you have been doing, there is no doubt that we will be able to build our own school building.  This building will be used for our School, Bible College, Adult Education Classes, Sewing Center and English Language Center.  Definitely, we will provide you with the details of this proposed building and budget, very soon.  We wish you all a blessed new year 2015.  May God shower His blessings upon you and rejuvenate you physically and spiritually, and may you lack nothing in your lives.

Blessings,
